Mindful Yoga/Therapy for Children and Adolescents

`The provision of a calm, organized mental state is key to a child`s ability to learn`

Mindful yoga therapy is a calming and nurturing yoga class aimed at supporting children and young people experiencing anxiety, stress and/ or depression as well as children with ADHD,ADD and other associated learning difficulties.

Yoga and Mindfulness supports young people to feel anchored in the present moment by paying attention to their internal and external states. This encourages a deeper connection to themselves, their peers and their environments as well as a calmer more robust sense of inner peace. As well as yogic breathing and traditional yoga poses, themes  from Mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) are introduced weekly.

Mindfulness and Yoga therapy provides children and young people as well as parents and carers with specific tools and practises for:

·      Regulating their emotions

·      Increasing concentration and wellbeing

·      Improving sleep and promoting relaxation and calm

·      Gaining deeper self-awareness and self- acceptance

·      Improving physical and mental strength and flexibility

·      Developing kindness and compassion towards self, others and the world around them.
